Training

Training Week 2

7-11 April 2025 – Online

Hosted by Aalborg University

The theme of this winter school is ‘transitioning’. The goal of the week is to accompany DCs through the transition journey of their PhD – from the preliminary stages to a point where their research becomes gradually more focused and precise.

Day 1: Engaging with research at a deeper and narrower level

Day 2: Engaging with research methods

Day 3: Engaging with literature

Day 4: Engaging with specific contexts of research and interventions

Day 5: Each DC will present their PhD canvas and receive feedback.

The expected outcomes of this training week are:

  • Sustainability transitions research: By observing how other researchers selectively engage with principles, concepts and approaches of transition design, the DCs will understand the need to find their own specific positioning in relation to this extensive research field.
  • Design research: By observing how other researchers selectively engage with literature and choose research methods, the DCs will start to understand how to narrow down their research trajectory. They will also be able to reflect more closely on the specificities of design research.
  • Researcher development: By (iteratively) working on their PhD canvas, the DCs will start to understand how to craft the core argument and the overall narrative of their own PhD research.
