Training
Training Week 1
This is the first in-person training week for the 13 Doctoral Candidates in the network, as well as offering opportunities for doctoral researchers and staff from all participating universities to engage with some of the activities. The training week is a mix of lectures, panel discussions, reflective sessions and practical workshops.
Partners Climate KIC will be supporting the Doctoral Candidates to think of themselves as researchers embarking on a doctoral journey, while the Transition Design Institute from Carnegie Mellon University will deliver a two-day workshop providing a practical learning experience in applying one approach to transition design, alongside training in ethical and responsible research. Alongside engaging directly with some of the academics involved in the network, candidates will also have opportunities to connect with and visit organisations and activists working on transitions topics in the London region.
This training week is co-organised by academics across UAL involved in CoDesign4Transitions (Prof Lucy Kimbell, Central Saint Martins; Prof Ramia Maze, London College of Communications; Dr Lara Salinas, LCC; Prof Adam Thorpe, CSM; Dr Niki Wallace, Camberwell, Chelsea and Wimbledon College of Arts) in collaboration with the UAL Doctoral School and supported by the European projects team in UAL’s Research Management and Administration (Nicola Dorigo Salamon and Oylun Apak).
