Training

The CoDesign4Transitions training objective is to develop Doctoral Candidates as creative, entrepreneurial and innovative researchers able to operate effectively in a range of settings, work collaboratively across disciplinary silos and organisational boundaries, and be equipped to adapt and respond to current and future challenges with a commitment to converting knowledge and ideas into strategies, policies, programmes and services for public and organisational benefit.

CoDesign4Transitions’ 13 Doctoral Candidates will participate in extensive, research-based training and development activities over three years, in addition to going through doctoral training and supervision at the university where they are employed.

The network’s 36-month training programme includes doctoral seminars, lectures, workshops, fieldwork, sense-making, insight generation and reflection. It will be international, intersectoral (with secondments at local government, specialist consultancies, think tanks, CSOs and business) and interdisciplinary (including sub-disciplines in design as well as in democratic innovation and transitions studies).

To meet the Doctoral Candidates´ development needs, CoDesign4Transitions’ network-wide mandatory training is divided into five strands, delivered through three face-to-face training weeks, two online training weeks and an ongoing training delivered by beneficiaries, external experts and Associated Partners. Each Doctoral Candidate will have two secondments at Associated Partners with Co-supervisors/Mentors from these hosts and a Career Development Plan to be reviewed regularly with their main Supervisor.
