About
SWPS University is a private university founded in 1996. Currently, it is a modern research and teaching centre, offering interdisciplinary studies mainly in the field of social sciences, humanities, and art. It is a leading higher education institution in Poland, specializing in research in psychology (top place in Poland in the Shanghai ranking, 2023), political and administrative sciences, sociological sciences, legal sciences, literary studies, cultural and religious studies, and visual arts.
The university employs 500 academic staff, 1,500 academic collaborators and 500 organizational staff, providing extensive infrastructure supporting education and research. It provides education in 50 bachelor’s, master’s and uniform master’s degree programs for over 16,000 students at 6 campuses located in the largest Polish cities (Warsaw, Wrocław, Sopot, Poznań, Katowice and Kraków). It offers, among others, 16 programs conducted entirely in English for over 1,000 international students from over 80 countries.
The high quality of research conducted by SWPS University is confirmed by the results of the quality assessment of research activities for 2017–2021, conducted by the Ministry of Science and Education. Of the 7 scientific disciplines assessed, the university received two prestigious A+ categories, as well as four A and one B+ categories.
The university runs a doctoral school in five disciplines: psychology, sociological sciences, cultural and religious studies, literary studies and visual arts.
