Sustainable Transitions through Democratic Design

CoDesign4Transitions is a four-year doctoral network with 13 Doctoral Candidates carrying out original research in relation to three research objectives, at the intersection of co-design, design for sustainability, service and systems design, democratic innovation and climate transitions.

The network brings together eight universities in seven countries and is coordinated by Polimi, led by Associate Professor Marzia Mortati and co-led by Professor Lucy Kimbell from UAL.

On 15 June 2026 we will hold our first public event, the CoDesign4Transitions Milan Symposium. Come along to share perspectives and new insights at the intersection of design, transitions and democratic innovation.
